Lincoln Lions are passionate about youth
Lions International have several schemes which are aimed at today's young people. All of these schemes have one aim and that is to acknowledge the work of young people within the community as well as encouraging others to make their world a better place:
YOUNG LEADERS IN SERVICE AWARDS
Young people aged 11 – 18 years qualify to receive a framed Certificate signed by our International President if they carry out 50 hours (Silver award) or 100 hours (Gold award) certified community work in any 12 month period. All that is required is for a certified log book to be completed which can be obtained from your local club. “Community work” is used in the broadest terms and further information will also be obtained by contacting your local club. This is a is a worthwhile addition to any young person’s CV.
YOUNG AMBASSADOR OF THE 21ST CENTURY
This is an annual international competition open to young people aged over 15 but under 19 who are involved in community or welfare activities. The competition is run at local, District and National level with bursaries of £500 and £1000 respectively awarded to the winning contestant which must be used to further their community involvement. The National winner competes at International level for a further Bursary of 3000 Euros and an invitation to attend The Europa Forum.
Again all competitors receive a certificate which enhances any CV.

Today Lions David Helson, Geoff Hughes and Lion President Diane Burke had a meeting with the Deputy Chief Constable Heather Roach of The Lincolnshire Police, at their Headquarters at Nettleham. Lion David discussed our Young Ambassador Programme with the DCC and received an enthusiastic response from her in getting the Cadets involved. It was also agreed we have a Social visit to their HQ for our members, and she is organizing an Officer to contact us with further details. The motto ‘Just Ask’, has hopefully worked for us at this time. |
